Courtney Garland
BOARD CHAIR

Courtney Garland is an experienced healthcare professional and passionate advocate for new parents. With over a decade of expertise in neonatal care, lactation, and sleep consulting, she brings a wealth of knowledge to her role as Board Chair for Haakaa. Courtney's expansive career includes extensive work as a Neonatal ICU Nurse and Lactation Consultant, along with operating her own private practice offering paediatric sleep support to
families with babies and young toddlers. She’s also the founder of Mama Linc – a groundbreaking new app developed to provide accessible, trusted support to new parents as they navigate the first year (and beyond) with their little ones. As a mother of four, she understands firsthand the challenges parents face and is dedicated to providing education and practical solutions for families. Courtney’s dedication is a vital asset to our team.

Aliza Carr

Aliza Carr is a registered midwife and infant massage therapist based in Sydney. She has specialised education in perinatal mental health and has spent her career working across a variety of midwifery areas, including antenatal, postnatal, NICU, and delivery.

She has held a lifelong interest in pregnancy and childbirth, applying her skills in a number of midwifery-related fields, including nutrition, and in different countries. This has allowed her to develop a deeper understanding of how different cultures approach childbirth and parenthood, as well as applying these skills to her role as owner and CEO of Franjos Kitchen. As a board member, Aliza has been working closely with Haakaa for many years, providing professional, hands-on advice and guidance.

Dr Hugh Porter

Dr Hugh Porter is an obstetrician and gynaecologist practicing at Sydney's North Shore Private Hospital, Mater Hospital and Northern Beaches Hospital. Hugh has a history of published research and teaches at both Notre Dame Medical School and Macquarie University’s medical school.

Hugh was inspired to become an obstetrician when he delivered a baby in medical school. He brings specialist expertise in both high and low-risk pregnancies, including providing mothers with the chance to assist in their caesarean sections! His dedication to comprehensive care and maternal well-being makes him a trusted partner for mums seeking expert guidance and quality resources.
